Meadowlark 1939 • Adams Wedding

I cannot wait to show you the beauty of this hidden gem in Griffin, Georgia, less than an hour from Atlanta!

When Haley + Tanner told me their venue was at the ever-gorgeous Meadowlark 1939 I cannot put into words how excited I was to finally get out to this bucket list venue!

My favorite feature when I think about Meadowlark 1939 is the magical feeling you get when you are driving in and walking around the grounds. It really feels as though you have walking out of Georgia and into an English garden with a Southern twist. You can read more about the venue here.

Can we take a moment to really look at and appreciate these details? Absolutely gorgeous and those florals are everyyyyyyything.

The walls of windows in the main house are a photographer’s dream. I could not stop taking photos of these beautiful ladies as Haley was getting dressed for her first looks.

Next, it was time for first looks with Dad and Tanner. How gorgeous is every angle is of this venue!? I love the huge trees, iron gates, and texture everywhere.

After the first look, Tanner then went to dig up their bottle of bourbon. They buried the bottle upside down one month before their wedding day. I had heard of the tradition of “Burying the Bourbon” but never had a couple actually do it. Simply put, this Southern tradition is meant to bring amazing weather, keep the rain away, and drink all throughout the day with those that you love!

You can read more about “Burying the Bourbon” here.

I wish I had hours to just walk around and take photos of the grounds. I mean the gorgeous main house below and all of that ivy?! All of the heart eyes. There were so many statues, weathered bricks, and visually appealing spots.

Adorable flower girls…check!

One of my biggest pieces of advice to anyone planning a wedding is to pick your wedding party carefully. Those chosen ones, standing next to you, should build you up, keep you laughing, and most importantly keep the day drama-free.

I am pretty sure once you scroll through the wedding party photos below, you will see that Haley + Tanner chose wisely and we had so much fun!

How gorgeous is this HUGE, picturesque Oak to greet your loved ones and direct them to the ceremony spot? I also love the detail Haley + Tanner had for their guests to grab a glass of champs to sip before the ceremony.

The sun was so much fun at all hours around Meadowlark 1939 and that is not something most venues can say! A photographer’s dream, yet again!

After the ceremony, we ran off and took advantage of the sun dropping and giving us beautiful, golden light peeking through the trees.

Sidenote: I totally suggest having at LEAST 45 minutes to frolic around the venue and get the “newlywed photos” you are most likely to make a canvas of or add to your heirloom album. When looking for a photographer or working with your photographer please let them help you with (or even better make) the timeline! We know how we need the day to flow to get all of the photos you want in the time allotted.

The reception tent is also another showstopping aspect of Meadowlark 1939 y’all! This tent is a beautiful canvas color and included in the rental of the estate! When I turned the corner to take these photos, my jaw dropped and all I could keep saying was simply, “Wow!” Just take in these next few photos and all of their boho-circus chic-ness.

Their gorgeous details continued throughout the reception space.

Haley chose to add another fun twist to the reception, a ribbon-cutting bouquet “toss”! I have seen photo inspiration of this on Pinterest and I was SO excited when Haley told me she was incorporating it into their reception. I love that this method is more visually appealing with the colorful ribbons, smiles of the guests’ faces walking around, and Haley looking so happy. You also have less chance of your guests jumping and hurting themselves or someone else. I really hope this catches on!
